About time...

Mon Mar 16, 2009, 6:31 AM

  • Reading: Stray Toasters
  • Drinking: Water
Well, if you ask me it's about time if I updated not only this journal, but also uploaded some "new" art. I don't know how many people "follow" my DA anymore so for all I know I could just be writing this for myself, but at least I'll have accomplished something.

So, what's going on? Well, seeing as it's been quite a while since I updated this journal (and I'm not sure how much of relevance I said in that) I honestly don't know where to start, so I'll just save you the lengthy rant of trying to get you up to speed and just say that this week marks the debut of my first full drawn comic book being published;

Watchmensch - by Rich Johnston and I.
As the title implies it IS a parody of Watchmen, but, honestly, it's much more than a funny spin on the characters and story (IDW already did that, as did MAD Magazine); it uses Watchmen as a platform to tell the story, with the occasional gags and humor, but the book itself is an in depth look at the comic industry and how the big publishers have handled creative talent through the years. Building the story on Watchmen lends to a great width of exploration not only for past and present creators, but also the publishers, fans, retailers and even legal dealings.
If you're a fan of Watchmen and/or the creators, I urge you to pick it up. If you want to see what the comic industry is, and has been, like you should also pick it up. And if you want to support indie press - well, then you should DEFINITELY pick it up.

It's gotten great reviews, and even approval from Mr. Dave Gibbons himself.

Watchmensch be out in every good comic shop March 18 and to see if your shop is such a shop go here; [link]
Should your shop not be such a shop the Diamond order code is also available at the above link for you to get them to order it.

A lot of love has been put into this project, both from me and Rich, and having received my copies only a few days ago I can tell you the book itself looks great.

So, Watchmensch - this Wednesday. Pick it up. Please. Or at least flick it through.

Now I'm going to upload some new art...

And maybe there's a chance in Hell that I thought all three were really REALLY good! ;)
Had the artist been anyone else I would've believed it, but as it is now - no way.

    (Thanks.)

Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody's going to know whether you did it or not.
hihi, i have a question for you. when you were in london, how often did you use the tube? i know most of the big things are fairly close to each other (within a few miles of each other), so is it do-able to walk everywhere or is it safer to use the tube?

    hope you're lovelypeachykeen.

Honestly? Only when I went to Heathrow for going home. It's all within walking distance. I lived in the suburbs (Catford) and took the train into Waterloo central every morning, then I walked from there to wherever I wanted to go - Parliament (you can practically see it from Waterloo), Hyde Park, Leicester Square, Picadilly Circus, King's Cross - I walked to them all. Doesn't take very long to be honest, but the tube is good too and not too complicated to understand - it runs on different levels, so you can never get on the wrong one if you're on the right level.
