The motif is Rorschach of the Watchmen.
I've toned down the colors and made them sephia-like to add that "old" retro feeling to it. The "grittyness" wasn't intentional... but the more I looked at it the more I found it suitable and fitting.
I'm a sucker for silhouettes and shadows so hence the darkness of the pic...
It doesn't show, but in the hand he's holding the Watchmen smiley complete with stain and all... Pity it didn't come through...
The phrase "Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes" is latin for "Who Watches The Watchmen" and it's a reoccuring phrase from the graphic novel Watchmen.
